Fingerless Mittens in rare breed British wool

£35.00

Choose from three colours, all 100% British wool.

Brown "Rare Manx" - rare breed Manx Loaghtan wool from Well-i-Hole Farm, Saddleworth.

Cream/white "Woodland White" - rare breed White Faced Woodland from Temple Newsam Home Farm, Leeds.

Grey "Shetland Woodland": a blend of rare breed White Faced Woodland from Temple Newsam Home Farm, Leeds and Grey Shetland from Lambwath View Flock in Hull.

The wool is spun in small batches at a mill in Yorkshire. Hand knitted in Saddleworth, North West England. All are naturally coloured (the colour of the sheep!)

The fibre that makes these mittens has been grown, scoured, spun and knitted within the North of England. The Peg Loomer is part of the Northern England Fibreshed - a group committed to utilising and promoting the use of fibres grown and processed within the North.

Buying local wool knitwear is a highly sustainable choice, with a vastly reduced carbon footprint - no shipping from the other side of the world! Choosing wool over synthetic fibres means no micro-plastics released into our environment. It also supports our local farmers to preserve rare, native breeds, and local crafters, designers and small businesses.
