Peg Loom Weaving Workshop: Make a Rug or Mat: Sunday 5th October
At The Making Mill, Hebden Bridge.
Mats: half day workshop 10 - 1pm
Rugs: full day workshop 10 - 4pm
Learn the wonderful craft of peg loom weaving and make a mat that can be used as a seat pad, kneeling mat, pet mat or wall hanging. Or come along for the full day and make a small rug, perfect for beside your bed, in front of the fire, or as a pad for a bench. Your rug will measure approximately 45 x 90cm or measurements can be adapted to fit a certain space if you have something in mind – get in touch in advance to discuss this.
You’ll weave with British wool from different breeds of sheep giving a variety of natural shades and textures. And you’ll learn more about wool and its many benefits.
Learn a new skill and get absorbed in this therapeutic weaving technique!
This is a wonderful, accessible craft, and peg looms and wool will be available to purchase if you'd like to do more weaving at home.
Refreshments are included. Those for the full day workshop can bring along lunch or pop to the garden centre farm shop which is full of goodies!
The venue:
The Making Mill is on Valley Road in Hebden Bridge. Access involves a few stairs up to the doorway and then a flight of stairs with a rail up to the first floor. Parking can be tricky in Hebden Bridge at weekends so public transport is recommended. The Town Hall carpark is very close by for those driving, give yourself plenty of time to get a spot. There is paid on-street parking too, just be sure not to get in a spot with a time limitation.
If you have any questions before booking please email me [email protected].
I will send a reminder email close to the time. If you have a voucher and would like to use it please get in touch and I will reserve your space.
If you would like to do this workshop but need disabled access please consider the July workshop at Gordon Rigg Garden Centre in Todmorden. Otherwise please get in touch and I will look to find an accessible venue when I am next able to fit in another workshop. I'm sorry that many venues that are accessible to us artists and makers cost wise are old mill buildings that are inaccessible to wheelchair users and others with mobility issues.
